Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
Tuesday Jan 29, 2019
In the second half of our pilot episode, we kick things off with a Writer Appreciation segment, interview friend of the show and Houdini aficionado Tobie James, and include audio clips by Jessica Farnsworth, great-granddaughter of Philo T. Farnsworth. We then move into the "Comb of Lucrezia Borgia" plot. This week's second Artifact Expert is BBC New Generation Thinker Dr. Catherine Fletcher from Swansea University, Wales. Episode 102 - "Resonance"
Tuesday Feb 05, 2019
Tuesday Feb 05, 2019
Thank you so much to everyone who made our podcast launch of episodes 101A and 101B a success! In episode 102, our Actor Spotlight gives us an excuse to adore guest star Tricia Helfer, and our "Almost" Actor Spotlight celebrates the composition skills of Emmy-nominated Warehouse 13 composer, Edward Rogers. Since our main artifact is by a fictional person, we consult a very special expert about Artie's steampunk password cracker: speculative fiction and steamfunk author Valjeanne Jeffers (vjeffersandqveal.com). Heavy themes include family, personal boundaries, and mental health. We finish off our discussion with a shout-out to Executive Producer Jack Kenny. More info is always available in our show notes!

Episode 103 - "Magnetism"
Wednesday Feb 13, 2019
Wednesday Feb 13, 2019
*Content Warning: This episode contains discussions of self-harm, domestic violence, and gun violence.* In this episode, several outbursts of bizarre behavior in smalltown Colorado lead Pete and Myka to learn a bit about the nineteenth-century father of hypnotherapy, James Braid. Our artifact expert is Kameron Sanzo, a Victorian Science scholar from the University of California, Riverside. There's no actor spotlight this week, but we shout out to Eddie McClintock (Pete) to celebrate his 18 years of sobriety, and his willingness to share his recovery from alcoholism openly with both TV producers and WH13 fans. Heavy themes are many. If you are struggling with thoughts of self-harm, please know that there are confidential resources you can turn to for help. In the US, these include suicidepreventionlifeline.org, and/or, PFLAG for LGBTQ+ folx at pflag.org/hotlines. For domestic violence support, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at thehotline.org; if your web usage is monitored, call 1-800-799-7233. We love you!

Bonus - Trailer! Podcast 13 Season 1
Tuesday Feb 19, 2019
Tuesday Feb 19, 2019
Ten years ago, a small SyFy show made a big difference. This January, join two Warehouse 13 fans for an intersectional feminist podcast that celebrates ten years of friendship and fandom. We're not afraid to tackle heavy themes, with guest artifact experts every week, and special surprises just for you, join us each Tuesday in 2019. Special thanks to Brian Alderson for reading the passage that begins "I now have my own theory about what Warehouse 13 is..." This is a line by Warehouse 13 writer Bob Goodman in an io9 article that can be found here. The opening two quotes from Warehouse 13 are excerpted from episodes 1x01 and 2x11, respectively; they are included in this trailer under fair use for quotation, criticism, and review. Episode 104 - "Claudia"
Tuesday Feb 26, 2019
Tuesday Feb 26, 2019
It's episode 104, so it's time to shine an Actor Spotlight on Claudia, played by Allison Scagliotti. Plus, we have our second cameo appearance by Eddie McClintock, who chimes in to share some memories of Allison's first days on set. In our Writer Appreciation segment, we celebrate the iconic LGBT+ work of Drew Z. Greenberg, and our Artifact Expert for the day is Dr. Kathleen Crowther, a Historian of Science who loves Warehouse 13 and generously shared her knowledge about the mathematician Rheticus. Throughout the episode, we also discuss mental health stigma, and encourage anyone in need to feel confident and strong when asking for help. There is nothing taboo about therapy, psychiatry, or any other mental health treatment! For more information, check out our show notes.

Episode 105A - "Elements" - Part 1
Tuesday Mar 05, 2019
Tuesday Mar 05, 2019
In this episode, we felt that it was critical to take our time recognizing the cultural appropriation that takes place in "Elements." To learn from the mistakes that were made with this episode back in 2009, we consult Lenape Tribal Historian Dr. John Norwood. If you learned something new from today's show, please lend your support to these Lenape educational outreach programs. Dr. Norwood's generous interview will be included, in full, at the end of Episode 105B.

Episode 105B - "Elements" - Part 2
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
In Part 2 of episode 105, we wrap up our beat-by-beat of "Elements." There are a lot of writing issues and examples of cultural appropriation to address; the silver lining is that we do enjoy Claudia's B-plot. Our discussion ends at the 1:00:00 (one hour) mark, but at that point, we post the entire un-cut interview with Lenape tribal historian Dr. John Norwood for our listeners to learn from, refer to, and cite. Episode 106 - "Burnout"
Tuesday Mar 12, 2019
Tuesday Mar 12, 2019
It's episode 106 -- one of Eddie McClintock's favorites! We revisit our bonus interview to applaud Pete's heartfelt sacrifice (and Eddie's emotional performance) when the Spine of the Saracen threatens everyone's lives. This week's Artifact Expert is Dr. Suleiman Mourad, a professor from Smith College with expertise in Islamic History and the Crusades. Although we don't have any official segments today, we delve into everything from mysterious nouns on the chalkboard-in-the-background, to Yiddish terms and Artie's Jewish heritage. Episode 107 - "Implosion"
Wednesday Mar 20, 2019
Wednesday Mar 20, 2019
This week, a real-life, really-lost samurai sword changes everything we thought we knew about Artie. We consult Dr. Nyri Bakkalian, an award-winning author, artist, and military historian who helps us understand the Honjo Masamune. Our opening segment shows our appreciation for writer Bob Goodman, and we shine two Actor's Spotlights: one on Mrs. Frederic's Bodyguard (Jung Yul Kim) and another on James MacPherson (Roger Rees). Heavy themes include the complexities of WWII, including Jillian's further reflections building on last week's discussion of Jewish representation. Plus, there's an Eddie McClintock Easter egg this episode -- can you find his voiceover cameo? As always, visit our website and look forward to our show notes!

Tuesday Mar 26, 2019
Tuesday Mar 26, 2019
Alice!Myka is here -- and we've got so much to say, it takes two episodes. In the first half of "Duped," we appreciate our writing team Benjamin Raab & Deric A. Hughes, plus we introduce a new segment called "Eureka Moment" for guest actors Erica Cerra and Niall Matter. We also are thrilled to gain further insight into the Studio 54 Disco Ball thanks to our first ever Artifact Expert Email Correspondent, New York music journalist Prof. Carol Cooper. Part 108B will be out ASAP, and over there, we have an in-person interview with an award-winning historian of mathematics. We can't wait to see you on the other side!

Episode 108B - "Duped" - Part 2
Wednesday Mar 27, 2019
Wednesday Mar 27, 2019
(Pst. A few seconds of Jill's audio fell down the rabbit hole in the first 2 minutes of this ep. Sorry!) Things get hinky in Part 2 of this Alice Liddell special! We kick things off with our Artifact Expert Brittany Carlson, a Historian of Mathematics and scholar of Lewis Carroll who is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of California, Riverside. Heavy themes include Charles Dodgson's life, speech impediment, and relationships with children -- which probably aren't what you think when looking back in time through a modern lens. Thanks for requesting this second half, and don't forget to have your eye out for show notes!

Episode 109 - "Regrets"
Tuesday Apr 02, 2019
Tuesday Apr 02, 2019
*Content warning: This episode contains discussions of self-harm, suicide, and trauma. If you are in crisis, please contact 1-800-273-8255 (USA), or visit lifeline.org.nz (New Zealand), or see our show notes for further international resources.* This week, we're headed to Southern prisons, both factual and fictional, with a little help from Lydia Pelot-Hobbs, an activist-scholar who researches the Louisiana carceral state from the 1970s to the present. We want to emphasize that we ourselves are not experts in incarceration or the criminal justice system, so please defer to our expert and/or the non-profit, non-partisan resource she recommends here for information about American prisons. We also discuss electricity, magnetism, and quartz with a little help from the American Physical Society.
We'll be on hiatus for the next two weeks as we rep the podcast at ClexaCon, but make sure you're subscribed for interim bonus content! We'll return to a regular production schedule on April 23 with episode 110.

We have tons of bonus footage of episode-specific questions that we'll incorporate throughout season 2 of the podcast. Enjoy!
